New Year, Newer Me

Wow, it’s been a while since I’ve posted. So much has changed in my life. But isn’t that the old saying? The one thing that never changes is change.

I’m feeling refreshed and ready to start a new year but let me share some of what God spoke to me about during 2017! The main focus has been to know Him more. Just in the past few weeks he has helped me see better how He is worthy of all the glory!

David Platt, the famous author and preacher wrote a book called Radical. Here is the excerpt from radicalthebook.net:

In Radical, David Platt invites you to encounter what Jesus actually said about being his disciple, and then obey what you have heard. He challenges you to consider with an open heart how we have manipulated a God-centered gospel to fit our human-centered preferences. With passionate storytelling and convicting biblical analysis, Platt calls into question a host of comfortable notions that are common among Christ’s followers today. Then he proposes a radical response: live the gospel in ways that are true, filled with promise, and ultimately world changing.

Let me tell you, this book isn’t for the faint of heart. David doesn’t sugar coat the gospel! In fact, he overturns the ideology of American Christianity as we know it. He brutally compares Christ’s call to the disciples in the New Testament to how we live today.

Frankly, I’m ashamed. We sit in our comfortable, climate controlled, million dollar worship centers on Sunday mornings and act as if we are laying down our entire lives for Christ. I’ve been convicted of how often I waste time, energy, and resources that could have been used for the glory of God!

From reading radical it is clear that I need to surrender and be radically dependent on the Lord.

The biggest question I’ve asked myself is:

How am I desperate for Him???

What areas of my life (my entire life) am I looking for God to come through? Is there anything that I am trusting Him completely with?

The disciples did not try in their on strength but fully trusted God to come through. Why do I do everything out of my own strength? Am I trusting God to come through?

This year, I resolve to know Him more! I want to know His holiness and give Him all the glory! I want others to see Him working in my life and be inspired to know Him deeper as well!

Lord, thank you for planting the seed of desire in my heart to know you more! Help me to radically live for you and lean on you for all things! Amen.
