Proverbs 16 – When we don't know what to do…

“Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.” Proverbs 16:3

How many times have we heard this verse? But how many times have we really stopped to wonder what this verse means? I feel like every time I turn around I am in a predicament that ends up landing me in the valley of “what to do?”

It happens to all of us! But I think as a Christian, I find myself having a special level of anxiety over what to do because I am concerned (rightfully so) with my life aligning with God’s will. I think this anxiety is a tool the devil uses to steal my joy. The bible is clear about how I shouldn’t worry and how I am free in Christ. It brings to mind John 10:10 which says, “The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” KJV

Jesus didn’t go through all the trouble of dying a horrendous death on the cross for me to have anxiety over life. Isn’t it wonderful that He has already won! We don’t have to have anxiety about life, but to live abundantly in His love and grace.

Just writing this and thinking about how God’s love is so much bigger than any problem I face, it gives me a renewed hope and refreshes my joy for life. Of course, I’m going to have a few things on the short list of “wondering how that’s gonna turn out…”

But, no matter what decision I am having to make, as a Christian I am going to rest in His strength. Philippians 4:6 says, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication [to ask humbly] with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.”

What are you facing today? Have you taken it to Him?

Join me in prayer today, Lord, I thank you for your love, mercy and grace! Thank you that I don’t have to go through life worrying. You know the situations I am in and the challenges I face. Let the Holy Spirit speak to me and guide me. I want to love you Lord more than I love anything else in this world. Help me to seek you first in all that I do. Let me love others the way you love me. Thank you for Jesus!!!
